I see the ownership changed. Now it is owned by the computers name " John-PC " So can I make a new user with administative power " ? The only user on the system is " John " and guest (not used).

Try a couple of things. One, try this tool.

LockHunter is a free 64/32 bit tool to delete files blocked by any processes

If still no joy, boot from your install dvd, choose Repair your computer- Command prompt, then manually delete the folders.

Folder - Delete from Command Prompt

You can try the manual delete inside windows too.

That is how I got the files installed on my drive in the first place. I backed up my computer to re-install windows, now I can't get rid of the files. So I don't get a option for a command prompt, just install windows...
