all i'm finding is to hit alt f10 to get to the hdd wipe, and that just takes me to the startup options (safemode, normal, etc.).

also tried r, and got the same.

well, can't get the Acer HD Drive wipe to work. tried alt 'f10' and 'r', but both take me to the startup options (e.g. safe mode, normal, etc.)

no, i got ya. but my cd doesn't take me to that screen. it takes me to a gateway recovery. i had to make the recovery discs from the hard drive because the gateway nv53 doesn't come with discs, they store them on a partition so you can make copies.
