Gateway NV53 Stuck at Setup after Recovery

question, i finally got a Gateway NV53 with Windows 7 to restore from discs, restarted, and now it's sitting at the 'Setup is applying system settings'. the graphic is still moving under the text, but nothing from the activity light. it's been a bit over two and half hours. is this normal? i would hate to cancel it if it's normal, ha.

and also, i had my drivers and applications disc in when it restarted after restore. should i have hit f12 to choose boot from disc?

    thanks!!!

Did you clean the HD Drive first?

You only need the Drivers Cd when Windows is fully installed

i did the full restoration, if that's what you mean. said it would totally wipe it. and actually, after 6 hours i reset computer, just reinstalled windows, and now it gets through setup to finalizing windows installation (just after asking which wireless to use) and gives me a BSOD. i also can't get it to connect to any internet at all even though it detects the router.

    thanks!

k, my case is different, i guess. my version of windows 7 is the 'Gateway Recovery Management". none of those methods work for my recovery discs.

so, up to this point, i've done a full restore with recovery discs, restarted and had it stall at 'applying system settings' during initial setup, reinstalled windows and now it won't fully finalize the initial setup. quite the frustrating computer, i'm finding it to be, lol.
