Windows 7: Restoration incomplete, maybe due to bad battery?

Restoration incomplete, maybe due to bad battery?

I have a Compaq presario cq 62 laptop which is running windows 7 home premium. A few weeks ago the computer started to act up on me by running slowly and being unresponsive. When i would open the lid from stand by the lights would stay on (cap locks, wifi would stay orange, and power would stay lit) and it would take about a minute to actually go to the log in screen. Windows explorer became unbearably slow and i could not use it for the life of me. I've restored my computer before but my battery was in good working condition back then. As of now, the battery icon (when it was running) said that i should consider replacing my battery. I tried restoring my laptop this evening and it goes to the end of the third disk and restarts and then says restoration incomplete once it finishes loading. My question is now, do i have to replace my battery or is that not a factor in order to restore the operating system?

(For everyone, i am quite tech savvy so I'm not a complete noobtard like most people online are now days)

Thanks in advanced...

I would replace the battery.
Until than, remove battery & reinstall with PSU plug in only.

I have tried it without the battery though. It still says incomplete. Would there be any other way around the battery issue? I'm a poor college student that can't afford a battery just yet. Maybe there's a way to recondition it?
