Windows backup and installing other win, question

Hi all,

I want to put windows XP and i was wandering if i make windows backup (i have Windows 7 atm) and later, after 1-2 weeks i want to put windows7 again, that backup will restore all my drivers, settings, back to the day i made the backup or backup will be deleted once i uninstall windows7 and put windowx xp? (In this case, today)

I hope you understand, my English is not the best ...

No one can give me an answer?

I write again, this time I hope i can express better and eventually I can get an answer.

So basically, yesterday i made a windows backup thinking that i will install windows xp and if eventually sometime in future i want to install windows7 again, with the backup i've made, i can restore all settings and drivers+programs at the date i made the backup.

Is this possible? Or if I uninstall windows7 -> install windows xp -> install windows7 again, i can't use the backup?

Please, please someone answer me. Many thanks,

If I understand you correctly you currently have Windows 7 installed and want to temporarily install XP. Then some time later have Windows 7 installed as it used to be???

If so then the safest and easiest approach would be to get hold of a spare HDD, remove the Windows 7 HDD and simply install the spare disk and install XP. You could have the 2 installed together with a BIOS boot - but let's not complicated things.

If you only have one disk then you can consider.
1) Image your current Windows 7 HDD then do your XP business and reimage Windows 7
or
2) Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP

You can of course image Windows 7 and restore it at a later point in time. You can use the Windows7 imaging or another program. But as mjf said, you may be better off to do a double boot with XP. You can also install it in a virtual partition like Virtual Box .
