Restoring using OEM Recovery Partition

i need to restore my other laptop using OEM Recovery Partition. it is a Gateway laptop running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. it wont boot at all, just goes to a black screen with nothing on it. I can access the setup menu (F2) and change the boot up settings to make it boot from CD (which i created using this ASUS laptop, also a Windows 7 home premium 64 bit.)

-It brings me to System Recovery Options.
-Ran Start-up Repair - 4 times w/ restarts in between (says windows should boot okay, doesn't boot thou)
-Tried System Restore (Failed)
-I know where my System Image is.

-I can access Command Prompt from here.

-I got it to access the Advanced Boot Options menu, but their is no Repair your Computer option. But having trouble getting it back to this menu again.

-I know their is a OEM Recovery Partition but i don't know how to get it to work from CMD.

-I recently wiped and repaired the ASUS computer using the OEM Recovery Partition on it, As it crashed a few weeks ago.

-if I wipe it clear using format option in CMD, will i lose the OEM Recovery Partition?

It's funny because now I have a similar problem and if he explained how he had solved the problem, I could have tried it too.

May not be what worked for Pumagade, but perhaps these Gateway articles will help others.

Gateway Support - What is Gateway System Recovery?

Gateway Support - Frequently Asked Questions list for How can I tell if my computer shipped with a Gateway System Recovery solution?

It used to be to access the recovery partition you could click Start > Gateway > Gateway Recovery Management > Restore tab > Restore System to Factory Default. Then you'd get some prompts "are you sure" etc and you'd click Yes or OK.

I think you could also start your computer and immediately hold down the Alt key while repeatedly clicking the F10 key. That should also open up the Gateway Recovery Management and you'd continue as above.

On my Gateway Profile the magic Recovery key on boot is F11.

Thanks for adding that. I wasn't 100% sure which Function key was involved. It's also possible that different Gateway models may use different ways/keys to access the recovery partition. I suppose one could also try using Google to find instructions by including the specific Gateway model number in the search query.

Well FWIW on my Gateway it does actually say after POST "Hit F11 for recovery" or some such.

I do think different models & model years have different recovery techniques.
