Best Way to Restore Data and Applications Back Together

Also,
I use WD MyBook Essentials usb2/3 HDDs. Even when the drivers are installed, you may need to wake the HDD up by physically disconnecting HDD power and USB the plugging back in.

It is a bit annoying with this fiddling but Windows will locate the image. The speed of the USB 3 reimage more than makes up for the nuisance.

----Store the drivers anywhere convenient. I have them on my Boot utility flash drive.

Due to BSOD ... a tech service put all the data in one folder now I need to get them back.I understand doing it manually from the file folder will take forever and a day.I have an external back up storage unit (WD My Book 4 T ) I believe was up to date at the time.Does the storage unit have both data and applications together so maybe I could restore my programs through the external back up unit ?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have created an image backup on a USB 3.0 Toshiba 500GB external portable drive. When I attempt to restore using the windows repair disc, I can't find my backup image. Can't see my external drive where the image resides? However, if I copy my third level directory, in my case called; "Backup 2015-11-28 232610" (COPY not move) to the top level directory along side; WindowsImageBackup, and then boot up using repair disc I can then see and restore this image. Without have to load any drivers. This particular laptop has only two USB 3.0 ports. In addition, the external drive is USB 3.0. So why does this work?

I realize this is an old thread, but it is right on point! I'm trying to restore from a System Image on a USB 3.0 external drive (Seagate Backup Plus Portable & I copied the Backup over to WD My Passport Ultra to see if the drive made any difference).

I understand that I need to "Load USB 3.0 Controller and Hub drivers". I also understand that I do so with the two .inf files indicated in this posting. My question is WHERE exactly do I find these files and do this?

Thanks so much for any help you can provide! =)

Try looking in here
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository

Look for *usb3* folders
