System Restore not completing Hi,
I am running Windows 7/32, IE 9, Acronis True Image Home 2010, and Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 on my (newish) Desktop.
My problem is System Restore:
I can create restore points manually, or they are created automatically when I download MS Updates for instance, and I have a fair list of these. But when I want to restore my computer to an earlier time, the whole process goes through the motions, and restarts the computer, but the error message "System Restore did not complete successfully ..." appears every time. I have tried a boot restore, I have disabled Kaspersky while I tried, but the result is always the same. What can I do about it, please?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Sometimes an Anti Virus program can cause that. Try it again with your AV disabled. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Hewlett-Packard/G62-107SA Notebook OS Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 330 @ 2.13GHz Motherboard Hewlett-Packard 1425 Memory 8 GB DDR3 Graphics Card Intel(R) HD Graphics Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Builtin Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 x 32 bits (4294967296 colors) @ 60 Hz Mouse Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 Hard Drives 250 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive 7200 rpm

Have taken a gander at the Troubleshooting info, but does not help. Am able to create restore points manually and automatically, but the actual restore function does not work.
Any specific ideas?
Thanks,

System Restore
System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed.
Details:
System Restore failed while scanning the file system on the drive C:\.
The drive might be corrupt. You might want to retry System Restore after running chkdsk /R on this disk.
An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0x80070057)
You can try System Restore again and choose a different restore point. If you continue to see this error, you can try an advanced recovery method. For more information, see What is Recovery?
=> Restore operation by using Backup and Restore may fail in Windows 7 SP1 or in Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

Thanks,
Tiger7 Not really.
I have seen instances of this recently with no resolution. Google shows it is an ongoing issue.
A couple of generic ideas:
Run sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt to see if it fixes any system files. Run it repeatedly until it finds no errors.
Consider a repair install
Use an imaging program instead of System Restore, although this is more time-consuming and takes up more space. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Ignatz Special; 4 speed manual gearbox; factory air conditioning; one of one OS Windows 7 SP1, Home Premium, 64-bit CPU Intel Sandy Bridge i5-2500, not overclocked Motherboard Gigabyte H67A-UD3H-B3, full ATX Memory 4 GB Crucial DDR3-1333 Graphics Card none; graphics are integrated on CPU Sound Card onboard: Realtek ALC892; external: USB Behringer UF0-202 Monitor(s) Displays NEC 90GX2-BK 19" LCD Screen Resolution 800 x 640 Keyboard Leopold Tenkeyless with Cherry Blue switches, USB Mouse Logitech or Microsoft optical wired; either USB or PS 2 PSU Seasonic SS-560KM, modular Case Antec Solo II Cooling CPU: Scythe Big Shuriken; Case: Scythe Slipstream 800 & 500 Hard Drives System: Intel 320 Series SSD, 80 GB;
