Ok.

On the refusing laptop. Map the networkfolder in explorer, with the login and password acquired for that folder.

If you don't know what I mean, let me know.

sorry required. not my native language.

I am familiar with networking, but not with backup program.

Is it MS backup or other brand? And does it have settings to set permission?

It's the inbuilt one that comes with Windows 7. I've used it on dozens of installations but this is the first time I've had a problem.

This may seem silly,

Did you setup the networking and the backup today?

What I mean to say is that after you setup the network and it worked, have you shutdown all three computers completely and then start them again?

Would you humor me and shut down all 3 pc's. Start the desktop first, and then the 2 laptops?

Ha lol , yep

All 3 have been running on the same network for several weeks.

It was just today that I setup the backup on Laptop B when I found the problem.

All other networking seems to be working 100%.

Are there any services that Windows Backup needs to run. I'm wondering if a service has been turned off/disabled.

The best way to find out is to look at the services running on the 1st lappy, and comparing them with the 2nd.

That will prevent you from starting unnecessary services.

I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what the outcome is.

I would say give another program a try. I backup using robocopy

I uploaded the .exe here

2shared - download robocopy.exe

Just make the following .bat file

@echo off

robocopy "C:\users\tom\desktop" "F:\desktop" /mir /s

echo Backup Complete

pause

In case you're wondering the destination folders don't create themselves.. < yes, i've had people who told me the script was not working but only because they did not create the destination folder>

Maybe it will work? just switch the source and destinations with your network drives and good luck
