Issues with Backup Restore - Folders visible, but files are missing.

    Hello,

I have a unique issue with a backup I am trying to restore to my PC. I am running WIN 7 Pro 64 bit and I have a backup from 10/31/11 I am trying to restore. Last week my PC was infected by the "Windows Security 2012" malware virus and my PC was caught in a boot loop. Luckily for me I backed up to an external drive so I went ahead and wipe my C: drive and re-installed windows. Everything is working great, but now I am trying to restore my user files (ie. Pictures, contacts, music, documents etc.) and I am running into an issue. See, when I restore the backup I get the file structure as it was in my old instance, but most of the files are missing. In fact all my user files are missing. I am not exactly sure why this is happening. The backup is the only thing on my external drive and it is well over 250GB. I have followed the instructions about backing up and restoring from another computer and made sure my user is the same.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Hello Coleman, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if you may be able to use the tutorial below to manually extract the files you wanted from the backup, and manually copy them back.

Backup - Manually Extract Files from in Vista & Windows 7

    Hope this helps,
