Hi, welcome to the forums :)

How much free space do you have on your restore drive?

You'll find that Windows Restore does not overwright the previous restore point so if you have a lot of "Automatic" retore points they can drastic reduce the amount of free space you have available.

Also, just for piece of mind, you may want to download MalwareBytes and run a full system scan just incase of a Malware infection.

If you're happy that your system is running perfectly I'd recommend the following tutorial

System Protection Restore Points - Delete

Then you can create a new restore point and defragment your hard disk as fragmentation can sometimes impare certain features within Windows.

    Hi axispeed,
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my request for help.
Since my original post, I have been in touch with Microsoft and they have determined that I have some corrupt files in my Vista Ultimate operating system. Microsoft is presently shipping me a disk, once received I will reinstall my operating system and my pc will supposedly function properly again.
    Thanks again!Bob

If they state you have corrupt files then you could try the following to see if it replaces any system files that may be causing the error

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
