After a unknown hickup that factory reset my C: drive I thought the quickest solution to get all the programmes back was to restore from a system image stored on another partition (D: drive). However the restore failed with the error above saying to run chkdsk /r on the drives. Unfortunately I guess the first part of system restore was to format the C: drive so I now have no OS!!!!
I found some old threads mentioning this error was linked to a couple of services not being started so I reinstalled Windows 7 Pro from the discs and checked that both Volume something and Windows Backup were started (backup was stopped). I tried to run chkdsk and it said it would run on next restart, but for some reason didnt perform it when I did. So set the image restore again hoping the ackup servcie was the issue and got the same error and OS wiped out again.
Any ideas how I can do the restore from the image? My next plan is to reinstall the OS then try and run chkdsk /r on both C & D drives. However I'm getting pretty feb up continually reinstalling the OS.
