Microsoft Office Starter 2010 - impact on System Images
My ex-gf has a new laptop that has this Office Starter on it. It creates a Q: drive that is virtual (it shows in Windows Explorer on left-hand side but you can't access it). It is also in the registry. Even if you uninstall Starter, the Q drive will be gone from Explorer but will still reside in the registry.
So, a System Image will work correctly, but VSSADMIN commands will fail with an error as there is some VSS writer or something mucking up the works.
The solution is to leave Starter installed, but go to SERVICES and DISABLE (not shut down but disable so they can NOT start again), 2 entitled something like Application Virtualization blah blah blah..... When you disable those, one will cause a pop-up that says another Service (begins with letter C) will also be disabled at the same time.
