W& Recovery. Recvered Sys OK BUT Wiped out all the other partitions??

I have 2 hard disks. No 1 is used for system and data. No 2 is data only.
Disk 1 has the 2 partitions for w7 and then 3 more these holding al my data. I had a failure for some reason. was fine then rebooted and failed. I used the windows recover option from the dvd I made when I first installed. Well it has backed up the systems files (to the time last saved). Ok, that's out of date, but the big problem is it seems all the data partitions have nothing in them. Has is wiped put all my data? Is it still there some where where I can recover. Does the recovery format the data partitions? I just cannot believe it. Please help. Terry.

What do you mean disk #1 has TWO partitions for Win7? 2 copies of the OS running (dualboot)?

You are contradicting yourself. Disk #1 has 2 Win7 partitions and 3 data partitions. But also disk #2 has data only?

Not sure why you say I am contradicting myself? On loading windows I used Partitions C Windows makes a second or creates a small secondary "section" which I have called a partition. Perhaps that is incorrect.
If we count this as one partition then I have 4 partitions on drive 1.C, then D,E and F used for data.
The second hard drive (also having 4 partitions) is irrelevant to this discussion so we can leave it at that. Then I said I used the windows recover option from the dvd I made when I first installed W7. Well it has backed up the systems files (to the time last saved). Does the recovery from the DVD format the data partitions or erase the data? I just cannot believe it. There was no warning that I would loose all my data on D E and F.
