Create a System Recovery Disc yourself!

If you type "System" into the search bar you will get "Create a System Repair Disc". You can make a recovery disc within windows yourself. This would be handy if you can not boot into the self healing Recovery options Menu or instead of using an OEM or Installation disc.. It takes about one minute to make a recovery disc.

    Hi Aaron,

I do not think that is working yet in Windows 7. It will create one, but when you go to test it, it is a dud. The problem is that it does not ask for the Windows 7 installation dvd to be inserted, as it did in Vista, to add the boot files needed.

    Did yours work?

Well I made it and then booted off the disk and it loads the windows files and shows the System Recovery Options menu, from which you can choose what option you want....startup repair, restore from backup discs, etc. At what point exactly does it not work at?

When I type System into the start menu I get this. Don't see anything about a disk. Am I missing something?

    Maybe indexing isn't finished yet?

    Hello.

It's in mine, with either system or System.

I did and I got 336 items, mostly license.rtf files and saved web pages. No repair disk item though.

Edit: I have set indexing to index most everything.

    I works here too...

Hey Brink...the recovery files are hidden (+s +h) ...under C:\Recovery\{GUID}.

There is a ramdisk image "boot.sdi" and the recovery winre.wim...
That's where it finds them from so it doesn't require Win7 DVD.

    Cheers

Update: I tried searching just the C: partition in explorer and unchecked 'hide sys files' and got 160 items, but still no repair disk option.
