I have been helping a friend with her Toshiba Windows 7 X64 laptop. Her hard drive was going bad but I was able to make a WindowsImageBackup of the drive. She sent computer in for warranty repair and now has it back and it is working fine. I don't really want to restore the laptop with the 12 backup DVD's I have, as all I need is to get are the a few folders of pictures from the DVD's. Wary of more problems if I write over the new hard drive with these DVD's.
- Have tried restore to a 32 bit machine's external hard drive with no success.
- Made backup of the 32 bit machine's drive to external hard drive and then tried to restore to 32 bit machine directly using Toshiba DVD's still no success. That is when I noticed the x64 comment in the error message so realize I might be bumping into a 32-bit vs 64-bit issue.
The DVD's seem to be fine as when it asks for the last DVD of set, it recognizes it and is ready to proceed. All I want to do is get this image restored or read so I can grab the picture folders and files in condition where they can be copied. Am willing to write over hard drive of 32 bit machine as I can get it restored.
Looking forward to suggestions.
