    Sleep Recovery Failure

I have another computer exactly like the one you'll see under my profile, however it has:

    a different 1GB video card that uses only 1 x 6-pin connector.
a wireless mx5500 keyboard and mouse

After sleeping overnight or for extended hours, when the mouse is moved, the system powers up but the screen stays blank. It has to be rebooted and then I get this in Application Event Log:

The winlogon notification subscriber <SessionEnv> was unavailable to handle a notification event.

    Windows license validated.

The winlogon notification subscriber <SessionEnv> was unavailable to handle a notification event.

The Desktop Window Manager was unable to start because a composited theme is not in use

The COM+ Event System could not remove the EventSystem.EventSubscription object {C76F3E32-C1A4-435A-A4DE-7779473D39B9}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}.
    Object name: YahooMessenger ISensLogon Subscription
    Object description:

The Desktop Window Manager has exited with code (0x40010004)

I uploaded the .dmp file. I missed the .xml file, so I hope you don't need it.

I had saved the desktop theme, but when I looked it was no longer saved so I saved it again. I'll keep an eye out to see if the Desktop Theme goes missing again when this happens.

Any suggestions or thoughts would be great...

    a) You are running the RC 7100. When did you install it?

    b) Open the Device Manager. Check any Network Card or Wireless device Power Management properties and disable (do not allow) them to wake the computer.

    c) Use MSCONFIG to disable all startup programs. Test to see if problem, continues to occur.

If it does not one of your applications is not playing nicely.

If problem does continue, have you double checked all the device drivers? Espeically mouse and keyboard and video.

Edit: Have you run a virus scan or anti-spyware like Malaware lately?

Running the latest RC with all the patches.

    b) Open the Device Manager. Check any Network Card or Wireless device Power Management properties and disable (do not allow) them to wake the computer.

I disable all the wakes except the wireless mouse and keyboard.

    c) Use MSCONFIG to disable all startup programs. Test to see if problem, continues to occur.

It is a sleep recovery, not a start-up problem. So nothing new should come up, only what I have running.

Edit: Have you run a virus scan or anti-spyware like Malaware lately?

I have the latest virus protection with all the updates.

I am running the same system with no problems, same hardware except for a few odd differences like the wireless keyboard and mouse and I have MS Office 2007 instead of MS Ofiice 2003 on this one.

I am more focused on why the WIn Mail did a backup on starting up and the Desktop had an issue.

If anyone knows more about what that Win Mail is, let me know.... I am wondering if that is Yahoo Mail....

Hence the suggestion to disable all startup programs. They can the then be started/re-enabled individually to see if there is any correlation. It would help to isolate the sleep recovery problem as to being a problem(s) with the basic OS install or some interaction with one of the third party apps.

A Windows Mail folder exists in the default Windows 7 install even though the application is not installed. Others have speculated that it relates to legacy Contact information support, but that is speculation.

    Sleepie But Alive

I fret it may take many months to reenable the various features one at a time and run the system long enough to isolate a sinlge one. The problem is most irregular...

Are you saying that on "startup" from sleep the MSCONFIG does various things? I'll have to look into that, but I suspect that since the backup works just fine and only the desktop is uable to recover according to the logs that it has something to do with the monitors coming up, not the Win Mail doing a back up...

But I am willing to try anything....

I will have to look more closely at the monitor driver...

The suggestion to disable all startups using MSCONFIG is to isolate (hopefully) the problem(s) between the baseline OS/Drivers install and any third party apps.

The problems listed are a mix - wake from sleep versus Winmail(?) issues. E.G. Yahoo Mail is not a component of a baseline OS install but the graphics driver is.

Some of the problems may be a result of running RC 7100 as well. The RTM release is 7600. I personally had 2 driver issues that were resolved between RC 7100 and v7232.

The driver for your Winbond CIR Transceiver is from 2007 and needs to be updated with Windows 7 drivers.
    wbondir.sys Tue Mar 20 10:03:57 2007
I have found issues hibernate/sleep problems when using Windows Vista storage drivers on Windows 7 systems. I would suggest updating to the Windows 7 version on your system (#3 on this page: Download Search Results! ).

The memory dump shows that the error occurred while accessing memory - but doesn't specify which driver caused it.

Here's some things that you can try while waiting for a response from us: BSOD troubleshooting preliminaries - Vox

I'd suggest running Driver Verifier to force the system to tell us which driver is misbehaving. Please read the directions thoroughly, as it can make your system unbootable:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.
So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista Startup Repair feature).
    Then, here's the procedure:
    - Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
    - Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
    - Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
    - Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
    - Select "Automatically select unsigned drivers" and click "Next"
If no drivers show up, then select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
    - Select "Finish" on the next page.
Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.
Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.
If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.
If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line.
    Here's the dump file analysis:

Just curious... do you have a wireless keyboard/mouse?

EDIT: nevermind you said you do lol.

Well, first make sure your drivers are all up to date (manually through the manufacture's websites if you have time).

THEN, go to device manager and for BOTH the wireless keyboard and mouse go to properties and un-check the box that says "all device to wake from sleep mode". Then restart so changes apply yada yada.

Then, once those boxes are unchecked, put it in sleep mode and try waking it with the power button (or whatever the non keyboard/mouse way is for you. For me it's the power button on the case).

I mean I don't know if this will fix it, but it worked for me and won't take more than 5, maybe 10 minutes of your time.

Oh, and if it doesn't work you can set it up again to wake the computer with a mouse and keyboard
