Hi Guys,

I want a folder with everything inside for example for files and folders: AppData, ProgramData, Program Files, etc.

Hello Infinite,

For files, I think it would be easier to create a system image to be able view and manually extract files at will if you like, or have the option to do a system image recovery if ever needed.

Hope this helps.

I just did this but it only took these files from the VHD:

- Program Files
- Windows.old (Empty)
- autoexec.bat
- config.sys

Well, you didn't mention that you were trying to backup files from a VHD in a virtual machine.

For a VHD, you could just simply make a copy of the VHD file itself, and save it were you like as a backup. You can attach and open the VHD copy anytime you like to get files from if needed, but that's a subject for a new thread since it's going off topic from this tutorial.

No I don't use a Virtual Machine. I attatched the VHD using your Tutorial, and then copied the files from the VHD to a folder in my Data Partition. However it only copied those files and not the full thing.

You could just make another copy of the VHD to have as a backup since you wanted to copy everything in it anyways.

I don't quite understand what to do:

I just detatched the VHD's. And this is my Disk Management:

It only took these files from the VHD-diskmgmt.png

Infinite,

Did you have everything selected in the opened attached VHD file when you copied the contents to a folder on your Data drive?

Would just attaching the VHD file when you need anything from in it instead of copying the files in the attached VHD work better for you?
