W& Recovery. Recvered Sys OK BUT Wiped out all the other partitions??

I have 2 hard disks. No 1 is used for system and data. No 2 is data only.
Disk 1 has the 2 partitions for w7 and then 3 more these holding al my data. I had a failure for some reason. was fine then rebooted and failed. I used the windows recover option from the dvd I made when I first installed. Well it has backed up the systems files (to the time last saved). Ok, that's out of date, but the big problem is it seems all the data partitions have nothing in them. Has is wiped put all my data? Is it still there some where where I can recover. Does the recovery format the data partitions? I just cannot believe it. Please help. Terry.

What do you mean disk #1 has TWO partitions for Win7? 2 copies of the OS running (dualboot)?

You are contradicting yourself. Disk #1 has 2 Win7 partitions and 3 data partitions. But also disk #2 has data only?

When a system image is created, it captures the data of (at least) all critical drives on the source disks, and also information regarding the state of all disks and partitions that are present in the system in case partitions need to be recreated during restore. Therefore the layout of the disks at the time of backup will have implications on what is included in the backup and also the options available for restore.

Create a new image after a disk layout change – During system image recovery, the UI will check if the current layout on the disk matches the layout information captured in the backup. If it matches, then it will allow restoring only the data in the critical partitions without formatting and recreating partitions on the entire disk. However if the layout has been changed, then it will need to recreate the partitions using information from the backup, which means formatting the entire disk and potentially deleting any non-critical partitions and their data. Therefore it’s recommended that if you ever change the disk layout on your computer, you should create a new system image to allow for a more flexible recovery experience.

W7 Recovery. Wiped out all the data on other partitions??

Not sure why you say I am contradicting myself? On loading windows I used Partitions C Windows makes a second or creates a small secondary "section" which I have called a partition. Perhaps that is incorrect.
If we count this as one partition then I have 4 partitions on drive 1.C, then D,E and F used for data.
The second hard drive (also having 4 partitions) is irrelevant to this discussion so we can leave it at that. Then I said I used the windows recover option from the dvd I made when I first installed W7. Well it has backed up the systems files (to the time last saved). Ok, that's out of date, but the big problem is it seems all the data partitions have now have nothing in them. Its wiped out all my data. Does the recovery from the DVD format the data partitions or erase the data? I just cannot believe it. There was no warning that I would loose all my data on D E and F. This is why I wrote and I still think its a huge problem. Thanks for replying Terry
