Reinstalling Operating System - What is proper procedure with Dropbox

    Hello,

My computer had a bit of a melt down and now I think it best just to start from scratch. I am going to re-install the O/S on my Toshiba Satellite L500-19x.

I use Dropbox quite a bit. Do you know the 'proper' way I should handle the process in regards to Dropbox? Will others lose access to my 'shared' folders when I do this?

My biggest concern is when I re-install Dropbox, will the know where/how to sync with my account. I don't want to lose any files or any of my 'free' space I have built up.

Thanks for any help or direction!

    Dave

After the OS re-install, download and install Dropbox. Your account will be intact. Login with your ID + password and Dropbox will sync your local folder with the one on their server ie download copies of the files you originally uploaded.

Meanwhile your friends should still have access to the shared files on the server via the links you sent them.

    that's the beauty of a cloud-backup.

log back in (from any computer), and all your files are still there.

No you will not lose any data, Dropbox is like backing up to a Hard Drive/USB but instead of Hardware it is on the net (only you can access) or if you share the link with someone.

The only thing you have to do is download and install Dropbox. Login. Go to UserFolder/Dropbox and you will see your files, now transfer any you want.
