I backed up my wifes laptop to an external IDE 80GB WD hdd, I checked the ext, hdd on my pc and everythiong was there and all was good. After a few days we decided to transfer the files over to the laptop from the backup drive. Well, I plugged the ext. drive into the laptop and windows installed the necessary drivers and then the drive never showed up in My Computer. I went to Disk Management and saw it there but it needed initialized.Ok, I right click and click initialize MBR and it says incorrect function. I have tried to initialize this drive on a number of different computers all, Win 7 OS and one XP Home, and the result is the same.
I've posted a similar topic before but this is not the same problem. This may not even be the same forum. Thanks for your time
