Back Up Problem Detected With Windows 7 64bit

Hi all, I was trying to do a back up for my asus N53S laptop using an external hard drive Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 3 TB USB 3.0 External Hard, and I got the error saying

"One of the backup files could not be created. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

Can someone please give me a solution.

Do note I also backed up my desktop on this same hard drive using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

I had the same difficulty. I'm not an expert, but this is a Windows problem. Windows 7 will only address MBR hard drives of up to about 2.2 GB. I reformatted the Seagate drive to the GUID (GPT) format and am using Paragon backup to do an image and the Microsoft Synctoys to backup files on a regular basis. Look at the following for ideas.

Seagate has different advice here and recommends it's disk wizard software (I haven't tried this):

Support for Disk Drives Beyond 2.2 TeraBytes (TB) and 4K Advanced Format Sectors
