windows 7 cannot find restore image on D drive

    windows 7 cannot find restore image on D drive


    my system is running windows 7, c drive is ssd, d drive is hard disk.

    my image is on D drive.
    when i run system restore, it says it cannot find the image, and wont let me search D drive

    Please post a screenshot of your fully-expanded disk management layout.

    I wouldn't swear to it, but the problem may be related to the fact you didn't backup to an external hard drive.

    Also, did you create a system repair disc that you can boot into and restore from it?

    I don't use windows imaging - it often couldn't find the images.

    You might be able to persuade it - check out the tutorial section.

    There is one which explains if you moved/renamed the image - you have to move it back and name it back to the original.

    If you haven't done that - the other way is to mount the vhd - make an image of the mounted vhd with another imaging app- then restore that new image you just made with - e.g. macrium, paragon, whatever.
