Hard drive made unusable or possibly currupted by system restore?

Hopefully im in the right place for this sorry if im not. I've used system restore images a lot and im familiar with troubleshooting on my computer. A few days ago i was getting a lot of network errors with dchp and dns leases and i don't know anything about them, google wasn't helping, so i decided to do a system recovery with the built in Tool hp has. I think something went wrong or did i have a drive failure?

i have 39.3 GB free of 285gb
pagefile.sys seems to be 195gb big
factory image drive D has 1.53gb of 10.8GB

so i decided to do a system recovery with the built in Tool hp has=>You mean restore using recovery partition? So you wanna go back to initial installation when you bought it?

pagefile.sys seems to be 195gb big=>close to impossible. But you can delete it if you want

factory image drive D has 1.53gb of 10.8GB =>1.53GB used or 1.53GB free?

What is situation now? Did factory restore fail or succeed?

Change Virtual Memory/PageFile Size in Windows 7
Hey!
Here is a way to increase the Virtual memory or Page file on your Windows 7 Computer :
  • Go to control panel>system and security>system
  • Click on advanced tab
  • In the performance section click on settings
  • Again click on Advanced > click on Change in the Virtual Memory section
  • Change the virtual memory [pagefile size]. Set to automatic
  • restart your computer
All the best!

Glad you fixed it. Was pagefile set to fixed size so 195GB?

  • Finding large files isn't that difficult.
  • To find the purpose of pagfile.sys isn't difficult as well.
  • How to modify pagefile size can be found on many sites. And HP should know how without even searching!
But there is an error is the HP recovery partition if this large pagefile is default after installation!
