Windows 7: System restore always reports error

The last microsoft updates that were downloaded failed to run properly and I had to roll back the machine a couple of days. When I do this I always get an error at the end saying system restore failed, it may be your anti-virus dadadada.
I disable the real-time protection but no matter. I still get this error but the machine does get rolled back. I don't understand why I am getting this error when things appear to be restored to an earlier date.. ???
Also, anyone else have problems with the last windows update release on Tuesday?
Machine is new last June win 7 i7 with an SSD....I bought the professional upgrade and downloaded it.

First, try sfc /scannow. If no change.
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Then, try Repair Install.

Sfc doesn't help and I only have an HP recovery disc so the repair without screwing up my present configuration too bad is out of the question it appears unless I get a win 7 64 pro disc at some point....according to the repair install link above.....the way I read it..
I see my antivirus still functions to some degree even when real-time is disabled....just maybe I need to go to start/ msconfig and disable it on startup but I think I may have done that at one time and it didnt help with the rollback error....I am trying to remember exactly.
The good news is that it appears to have went back to an earlier date regardless of the error flag because the problems associated with the last updates were cured.

Turn on the computer, start taping the F10 key, this will take you into HP Recovery Manager. Find and select the Repair Install option. Follow the prompts. If it fails to Repair, you'll need to perform a full System Recovery. Return the computer to factory state.

If your getting warnings from your Anti-Virus software, just update it. That should correct that. Or what error message are you getting now? Explain how the system behavior is now.

No the warning was when it showed system restore failed it said it could be caused by anti virus and to de activate it....
Thanks for the repair info...being that the machine seems to run well and the system restore back to last Monday did seem to work even tho it said that it failed, I think I may leave well enough alone and save your info to use in case the machine becomes annoying or non functional. .....Man this thing is fast with the i7 and the SSD...The windows score for the drive went from 5.9 to 7.8

I was wrong, it didnt go back to the date prior to the automatic updates because I looked and the updates that I suspected screwed me up are still there......plus it froze again. Darn. The discs won't repair it, just will re format it and I don't want that. Plus hitting the f11 key brings up a repair screen and that asked for the discs upon reboot but they are useless. I have a win 7 copy from the factory on F drive but it will not access F drive and HP tech says because I put an SSD in that makes things so they will not work properly according to him...but the darn SSD ran perfect for months. They make me feel like I am a criminal because I put in an SSD . The original hard drive died after 1 months and am tired of hard drive failures. I used a new one they sent me then decided to go SSD. So, I am back to square 1 again and maybe the computer shop here can use a disc they may have to repair the application, I don't know.
The fact that cnrtl alt del doesn't work at times bugs me...I keep scanning for virus' with 2 scanners and it doen't pick up anything.
The SSD test passes every time.
My overall windows score was 6.6 limited my my video card which is no big deal to me, I am not a gamer.
I see intel has something better than the 510 SSD now if I am not mistaken.

AHH I did the system restore in safe mode and it worked this time. Now I'll see if it cleared up any issues and may take some time to find that out.
