why do restore points only go back a week?

I'm having major trouble with a particular driver, so I tried to do a system restore. To my astonishment there were only 4 restore points shown (*after* I clicked "show more") and they only went back a week. I am used to Windows XP which provides a checkpoint every day and goes back months.

So I restored to a week ago, and no surprise, it failed to fix my problems.

So first question, is that it? Are there any more restore points I can somehow access?

Second question, can I configure w7 to provide more restore points in the future?

    Hello ratsrcute,

It depends on how much disk space usage you have set to be used for restore points as in the tutorial below. The more space, the more restore points will be kept. When the space runs out, the oldest restore point is deleted to make room for a new one.

System Protection - Change Disk Space Usage

    Hope this helps,
