Restore Image to a Certain Partition?

    Right, if you have a Windows image including the 100MB partition (which is default with Windows imaging), then you have to go your route (repair the bootmgr).

    I wonder whether one can fumble a bootmgr into the mounted C partition VHD using EasyBCD. Have to put that on my to do list.

    You need the 3 boot elements not just the boot manager (bootmgr). Startup repair x3 will generally do this, however, when all I want to do is fix the 3 boot elements, I prefer to use the 3 bootrec commands. Provided the winload.exe is sitting there in the OS partition I haven't struck a problem.
