    external backup drive connection

My external backup drive is a SimpleTech StorageSync unit used with an XP OS. I recently purchased a Dell 64 bit desktop. Can I just connect the backup drive to the new PC or should I make other adjustments?

I would think you can just reconnect assuming you have the proper connection point on the new PC.

See if it then shows up in Windows Disk Management.

I assume the external is just used to store personal data?

Might be a different answer if you are using any of the software that may have come with the external.

If it's any help to you, I have a 1TB Hitachi external drive that has been used on three different computers without any problem whatsoever.

I agree with ignatzatsonic's comment about the external drive's own backup software, but as I never use it I can't really advise on that at all.

    You're very welcome.

It does no harm to double-check. :)
