I've never run across a problem like that, but then since I'm not sure what that problem is, I can't swear that it doesn't exist. However, they do have a free trial version, so you could try it out for yourself. Just make sure that you create a System Restore point before installing it. The only problem that I have had with it, is that the current version causes a weird shutdown message about an "Operation In Progress" if you try to reboot during a period just before or after a scheduled operation (hangs indefinitely, requiring a forced reboot), even if the operation is not in progress. That could be avoided by installing TI 2010, but I don't think that you can get a license for it now.
They are running a special on it right now, where you can get it for ~ half price...if you don't mind playing their game, but it appears that all that it does is cause a delay in acquiring a license for it, until the 17th of this month. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DIY OS W7x64 Pro, SuSe 12.1/** W7 x64 Pro, XP MCE CPU Phenom II 1090T w/Noctua NH-D14 /**4400+ X2 w/CM Hyper TX 3 Motherboard ASRock 890FX Deluxe 4/**A8N-SLI Memory 2 x 2GB Patriot PGS34g1600LLKA/**4x1GB Corsair VS Graphics Card EVGA GTX460 SC/**EVGA 8800GTS Sound Card Asus Xonar D2X/**Xonar D1 Monitor(s) Displays Acer X233H, Dell E152FPc /**LG M237-WD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 & 1024x768/**1980x1080 Keyboard Logitech Media USB/**Saitek Eclipse Mouse Cordless Trackman Wheel/**Ditto PSU CM RS600 w/ APC BX1000G/**Antec 500 TP w/ APC BX1000 Case HAF922/**Antec 1040IIB Cooling 3x200mm, 1x140 and 1x120mm/**5x80mm fans Hard Drives WDC 2TB, 1.5TB, 1TB, 500GB,Seagate 500GB , Maxtor 80GB /**500GB Seagate & WDC 1TB Black Internet Speed 3.3Mbps Other Info SB 560 5.1 w/ Sennheiser RS140/**Creative T20 speakers, Dvico FusionHDTV7 Gold RT, Cisco E3000, HP 5510V AIO, Linksys E3000, Belkin F5U237 hub and **F5D8055 adapter

OP, what version of Nero do you have? I have both Nero 10 and 11, and Back it Up works flawlessly for me for file backups in both.
Never tried a older version though, not have I tried imaging the OS with it, so not sure about that.
Perhaps try and update the software? Its possible there was a bug thats been fixed?
Yes, Acronis does in fact show all your wanting, but as mentioned it isn't free. As an example heres how it looks selecting files from my MEGUI location for backup.
This is Acronis v2010, as I find I just like it better than the newer versions. I had some issues with ATI 2012 myself, but 2010 is rock solid and reliable. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom (Self Build) OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel Core i7 2700k Motherboard eVGA P67 SLI Memory 8GB Mushkin Redline Ridgebacks @1866 Graphics Card EVGA GTX570 SC Sound Card XiFi Titanium HD Monitor(s) Displays LG W2453V Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Saitek Cyborg PSU Seasonic x750 Case Corsair 600T SE White Cooling eVGA Superclocked CPU Cooler Hard Drives Intel 320 80GB -- Intel X25-V 40GB --WD Black 1TB x2 -- WD Blue 640GB Antivirus Kaspersky Browser IE Other Info LG BD/DVD |

well, i already did the backup, so Geany and free filesync will be in the list if nero fails.
The version i installed and the one i found more stable and complete for me was nero ultra 8.360, i 've been using nero since nero 6 in windows xp, then nero 7, when i switch to win 7 (cople of years ago, i was able to get nero 7 working on Win7k, with some little errors but..... afther my last recent computer crash (a strange virus or malware deleted ALL my jpg files [still unknown causes]) i installed again the Win 7 but in english (my laptop came with Win 7 in spanish) in this new fresh Windows 7, nero 7 was asking for directx 9, that and some compatibility issues and many errors, is what made me to find an alternative for the backitup). i installed nero 9, 10 and 11... (the multimedia version of the nero 10 made me so angry that almost makes me kick the laptop, it tooks longer than installing windows!!!) i found it too slow, too heavy, and the interface.. mm i dont get used to it. despite nero start smart of the 8 version is not the same of older version (which i love it) i found this version the most balanced. and i was able to get it new for less than 20 dollars in a friend's store (old merchandise)
Some people says that this last 4 nero versions are too bloated but i dont think that, since at least, it lets you choose what to install.
I finished my laptop's backup of about 30gb in 25 minutes without a single error or "Strange" thing in the whole process.
i'll see if i download the Free Flisesync for a friend, since it looks very good too.
(btw, Geany works super and i love it's interface in the first 3 minutes... but... i already got the nero) | My System Specs | | OS widnows 7 professional 32 bits |

You really need at leqast Nero 9 for Windows 7. Nero 10 is a bit faster though, at least was for me. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom (Self Build) OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel Core i7 2700k Motherboard eVGA P67 SLI Memory 8GB Mushkin Redline Ridgebacks @1866 Graphics Card EVGA GTX570 SC Sound Card XiFi Titanium HD Monitor(s) Displays LG W2453V Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Saitek Cyborg PSU Seasonic x750 Case Corsair 600T SE White Cooling eVGA Superclocked CPU Cooler Hard Drives Intel 320 80GB -- Intel X25-V 40GB --WD Black 1TB x2 -- WD Blue 640GB Antivirus Kaspersky Browser IE Other Info LG BD/DVD |

I prefer to use a NAS (Network Attached Storage device), basicly an external hard drive conntected via your local network. I got a nice 2TB Western Digital at a nice price that supports 10/100/1000 which makes doing a 300GB image file a dream.
For software I use Acronis, it's not without problems but as Windows 7 Home (all flavors) does not support network drives it was my best option (when you take into account the other things it can do). If all you are looking for is a simple backup you can try GFIBack ( www.gfi.com). It works quite well and it's free. You may want to look at your anti-virus software; some (such as Avira) provide backup services within the AV software. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU FX 8350 Motherboard GA-990FXA-UD3 Memory 8GB Graphics Card HD 6950 Sound Card Sound Blaster Z Monitor(s) Displays Samsung Keyboard Microsoft Natural 4000 Mouse Deathadder PSU 850 Watt Case Challenger Cooling Antec 620 Hard Drives Western Digital i need a back up software like nero back it up problems?
