Repair Disk with USB 3.0

I created a system image with Windows Backup on to my USB 3.0 portable hard drive. Then I created a new repair disk thinking it would pick up the USB 3.0 PCIe card's drivers and put them on the disk. Apparently that didn't happe for when I booted the Repair Disk it would not recognize the portable hard drive plugged into the USB 3 port. (It did recognize and restore from it when it was plugged into a USB 2 port, but slowly.)

I tried Load Drivers from the PCI card' s installation disk but that failed with a message saying something like 'Does not know this computer'

Is there a way to create a repair disk that will handle the portable disk on a USB 3 port.

Thank you.
