    Issue with hard drive partitioning

I can provide any further information if it is required but here is what I know.

Awhile ago, I partitioned my hard drive so I could install Linux (Ubuntu) on the partition and have two operating systems but I wasn't familiar enough with how to use Linux to make any use of it so I reinstalled windows to try and reformat the computer to it's previous state. It worked but the drive was still partitioned. For some time I used the extra partition just as another drive but now I want a single drive on my computer. I keep running into this error, "There is not enough space on the disk(s) to complete this operation." I first ran into this error when I tried deleting the partition but after no success there I tried to reformat the partition so I could use it again but now when I try that it won't work plus it no longer allows me the option to use the drive letter previously selected. An example is when I reformat the drive as letter D the next time I try to reformat that letter is no longer available. Here are some screen shots of my predicament.

My disk management window --> imgur: the simple image sharer
when I try to finish the formatting --> imgur: the simple image sharer
Right clicking the partition to try and delete --> imgur: the simple image sharer
Confirmation message box for deleting partition --> imgur: the simple image sharer
Error when I confirm deletion of partition, see previous error.

This has made 102gb on my hard drive non operational so I would like any help anyone can offer.

I'd download the bootable version of Partition Wizard and burn it to a disc. It's the most flexible partitioning tool around.

Free download Magic Partition Manager Software, partition magic alternative, free partition magic, partition magic Windows 7 and server partition software - Partition Wizard Online
Unfortunately my computer is a netbook and doesn't have a cd drive. I tried powerISO so create a virtual drive but I can't boot from that while the computer is running. Also, when I tried to boot from a flash drive it said the file failed. I prefer a windows 7 oriented solution to this problem without third party software if that is possible.

There is no other Windows option other than Disk Management. If that does not work, PW is your next best option.

I downloaded the executable version and ran it. After a computer restart to close the programs using the hard drive partitions it worked flawlessly! Thank you very much for your solution to this problem!
