Those are disk logical errors in file structure. Run it again and check if no new errors appear. They are old errors caused by some cold shutdown or so a long time ago.

Where did you find the results btw?

Do a chkdsk/f/r c: as well. It does the same three steps, which souldn't give you any errors. After that step 4 starts and gives you only 1 or 2 lines of output (checking readbility of used blocks). After that step 5 starts and gives you only 1 or 2 lines of output (checking readbility of used blocks).

You can see the total blocks to process and the current block count. So you can compute how long it takes to complete. It takes veeeeeeeeeeerrry long to complete. Step 4 and 5 shouldn't give any errors! Compute the time to complete and be sure you see the completion

    SeaTools | Seagate
click on "Downloads" . The DOS veriosn is better (it is a bootable CD so bypasses all win7 drivers). But you can use win7 version as well as a first test.

    http://www.seagate.com/files/staticf...dows.en-US.pdf

Do all tests. Not the advanced tests. Don't erase disk for example or format.
Takes a very long time to complete. But this proves... drive is fine.

All tests passed ok. (it would show a message if something's was wrong, right?)

I can see this heading towards a complete re-install... which i really wanted to avoid :-(

So disk is fine. Only problem now... is win7 backup the problem or VSS(?) win7 backup errors appear earlier in event log... strange. But maybe win7 backup timesout faster then vss itself(?)

Install macrium reflect free and try if it backups fine. It also uses VSS for backing up live system disks. Give it try. It's even better then system image win7 backup!

For now disk is fine. VSS has been reregistered... can't do more.

    Post results.

Don't do a reinstall!! I have more options

    Hi,

1st of all i like to say that i really appreciate your help & (very!) quick replies.

However we've now already spend so much time on it, and aren't even close to a solution.

So although it's gonna be a shit job to do, i think it's better to just re-install, as this will probably take
    less time in the end...

Once again i do appreciate your help very much, but i think i'm jsut gonna "cut my losses" now.

    Bedankt & tot ziens
