    Is firewall enabled?
Is sytem protection enabled? System Protection - Turn On or Off
Configure it the way you want
    You did that?

Now at the moment everything works, but google chrome, when dragged to task bar from start menu folder (under all programs) will not load. Don't know why.
=>does chrome shortcut work on start menu (the one you dragged to task bar)
If you drag to desktop, so shortcut on desktop appears.... is that shortcut on desktop working? just doubleclick on it
You can drag any other shortcut to task bar and it works as expected?

Only problems you have... correct me if I'm wrong:
    • WIN7 not activated. You installed win7 yourself??? you must have entered a product key! It is on the retail win7 install DVD.
    • Chrome pinned on task bar problems. Make a seperate thread of this problem please. Not a real problem anyway
    • system boots again after seleting win7
    any more?

    Hi,

Everything works great. The google chrome thing I will sort, as I have before, and will start new thread.

Thanks a lot Kaktussoft, I'm very happy with it.

    Windows update working yes.

Activation I will sort too somehow. Bought laptop with genuine windows Pro on it, but in slovak. Put the English version of Windows ultimate on, and yes I will have key somewhere. No worry's will sort.

Thanks again for everything, all finished, done and sorted.

What can I do for you, can I recommend you, or write up a reference, or post something somewhere?

Brilliant job. I lost hope there for a whilst, but here I am writing on my perfectly working windows 7 system, which I thought had been ravaged in the halls of sysprep.

Anything I can do let me know.

Glad you (actually me ;-) solved the problem. Be smart and make backups regulary. Give me a good reputation Windows 7 Forums - FAQ: User Profile Features

When you have a new laptop and put the old disk in (or restored from backup) and you want all programs and data intact.... v5: How to use Macrium ReDeploy (ReDeploy, V5)

If you really wanna help me.... give me a job! Currently unemployed for over a year 52 years old so they're not interested. And I am an ms access, excel, vba expert (not needed most and don't have relevant certification, only hobby not real work experience). Official I'm an OPENVMS system manager (robust operating system not used frequent anymore).

Microsoft... just one certificate... no real work experience.
But what I see .. I can fix. Networks, databases, websites, win7. Sometimes better knowledge then young people with a stupid certificate!

So give me job to help me. Or send some money ;-)

    Kaktussoft,

I'm looking to start a new company (seriously), so at the moment I'm as unemployed as you.

However, if what I want to do goes into place over time, I think the chances of me not employing you are o. Will definitely be able to use your skills.

How will I find you when it's time?

    Kaktussoft,

Found the little reputation icon, and it said I had 10 points, but I'm not sure if that's my rep or your rep.

Please talk me through ensuring I add to your rep.

    Hi There, Kaktussoft,

I don't know if you remember me, but you helped me out of a fix about a couple of years back.

How are you? Did you land a good job yet? I know you were saying you were unemployed.

I thought I'd get in touch with you as you seem to be the all out and out Guru on windows 7.

My updates won't work - error 8024402c - I'm serious now, but I'm going to say those famous last words

    I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING!!

Anyway, I ran the windows update component fix, and the diagnosis so I have some reasonably pinpointed info.

If you are still solving problems for people and want to cut your teeth on this one, I would be very grateful. If you have moved on to greater climbs I understand completely:)

Please let me know if you can help.

    All the best,

    Richard
