Spybot is definately coming off in that case.

@boohbah. That sounds interesting. I'll check it out later as I have to head out for an hour. Many thanks.

I've taken Spybot off. Any ideas what is a good malware program to use on Windows 7?

Britton maybe you're lucky or maybe the 2012 version of Norton has changed, but the following exerpt was taken from Nortons Support web site, (updated Oct 2011) I've included the link below.

"You cannot run System Restore on your computer when Norton Product Tamper Protection is turned on. You must temporarily turn off Norton Product Tamper Protection to run a successful System Restore."

https://www-secure.symantec.com/nort...=english&ct=us

I discovered this issue a few years ago by personal experience, but I've never tried it since then so I can't personally vouch for the 2012 version, maybe that's the difference? If that's the case, I apologize.

Malwarebytes caused me more problems than it solved due to a search program called Babylon which got installed on my computer at the same time. I thought I had unticked every option, in fact I'm sure I did, but this stupid program still ended up on my system and it was a pain to get off again. I have since removed Malwarebytes as I don't like having my system hijacked in this manner.

Yea, that is a problem. I have used this before and it was good. You might look at it and see if they want you to install other crap along with it.

I have just downloaded Malwarebytes from my link, which is identical to bigmck's, and installed it without anything else being installed. Where did you get your download from?
