    bcdedit ouput show a line containing Vista!! Are you running vista?
    command prompt:
    Code:
    winver
    is it win7 or vista?
    winver gives window 7 home premium, I do not understand that about "vista".
    bcdedit/enum {current}

    it shows vista isn't it?
    Oh, now I remembered! I must be getting too tired...After I wiped out the WIN7 on C, I discovered that I could not recover without a working win OS (to use EaseUS), so I tried to install a copy of Vista I had here, but could not install EaseUS into vista, so I deleted vista and installed XP instead, then EaseUS worked, but to no use of course.

    I think I had better call it a day now, start to feel my age and the two days of intensive computing efforts, also I have to get up at 5:15 AM tomorrow because of work, so IŽll continue late afternoon tomorrow if I am not too tired after work, otherwise sunday afternoon.

    Did you create a large NTFS paritition on usb stick already? Is it primary and marked active? After that copy ALL files from ISO to partition on usb stick. What drive letter has usb stick? I assume P in my example. Put bootsect.exe in %temp%. In command prompt:

    Code:
    cd  %temp%
    boosect/nt60  P:  /force
    boosect/nt60  P:  /force /mbr
    Replace P with actual drive letter. P now has the win7 volume bootsector (first command). Physical drive where P is on has a win7 MBR now (second command).

    All done without errors? Try to boot from usb stick. Of course you need a 64bits CPU to be able to boot from it. it tells you if it's not.

    Works?

    You don't need the usb/dvd download tool!!
