Recover bad files from a flash drive

I was saving data to my flash drive when I accidentally removed it. It corrupted the data in one of the folders, and I used chkdsk to correct the errors. It said that it found the corrupted files and put them in the "found" folder. The trouble is, I can't find the "found" folder on the flash drive or my computer. Any idea where it would be?

hi drcorchit,

Welcome to SevenForums.

You may find the found folder in the root dirctory of your pendrive. It is a hidden/protected file and so you may have to unhide them in Control Panel > Folder Options> View > Advanced settings (enable Show hidden files, folders, and drives and uncheck Hide protected operating system files.)

Will you be able to recover anything? These will be .chk files and I am not sure how far you will be able to recover anything. If there are only a few .chk files and if you know the extensions of the files you want to recover just rename the files with that extensin replacing the .chk and see what happens. If you have one too many then, Recover CHK Files should keep you engaged for quite sometime.

Let us know how things went.

Glad you found it. But were you able to recover the file/s? If you did recover the files please report what you did. That could help others.

It will also help us to know whether our suggestions worked and we will be in a better position to help others - for we also learn from user experiences.
