Doing Windows 7 backup fails.

Windows 7/64 SP1

I have an external drive H: attached (2.2 TB NTFS partition). The drive is
practically empty.

Today I wanted to do a full backup of the system. After a while it says that the last backup did not finish successfully (translated from German).

Last backup: never

Details say that a shadow copy is being generated.
Backup is being prepared. (Sicherung wird vorbereitet, 7%)
(while doing the files being processed are listed in the window one at a time).
C:\Users\Administrator
C:\Users\me

are being processed at the moment
at 12%

The it says that files are being copied and the drive suddenly goes offline.

My C: drive is a 512 GB SSD being actively logged in of course.

It turned out, that I (probably) had a bad disk (3TB) or something was messed with the GPT (partition table) I had installed on it. Or the USB 3.0 external Sata Docking station (Logilink) had problems with > 2 TB.

Anyway, I'm waiting for the replacement 3TB disk and will try again when received.

You may compare your situation with mine, whether some parameters match.
