Explorer crashed, restarted computer, cant run system repait

last night I was doing reserach for a school project. I went to windows explorer and it went all white, saying it was not responding. I powered of then powered back on my computer, and it reccomended that I run system repair. I tried to run it, but it gets to the screen and just shoes a cursor and a black background. I let it sit overnight thinking it would take a while, I woke up and it hadn't changed. I tried running Windows normally but it just gets to the starting Windows screen and wuts there. What do I do?

    robbysaye,
    Welcome to SevenForums.

Can you boot into Safe Mode?

    BOOT TO SAFE MODE
    Ø Power down your computer.
    Ø Power up your computer.
    Ø IMMEDIATELY—Start tapping the SPACEBAR
Ø When the Windows Boot Manager screen appears,
    Press the F8 key
Ø The Advanced Boot Options screen will appear.
Ø Using the down arrow key, highlight Safe Mode
    Ø Press the ENTER key.

    In shorthand,
PowerUp | Spacebar until Windows Boot Manager
    | F8 | Safe Mode | ENTER

    Hi,

Kindly follow the below mentioned steps in order:

    1. Confirm Hard Drive is recognized in BIOS. If yes, follow next step. If NO, load BIOS defaults and reseat Hard Drive.

    2. Run Hardware Diagnostics on your system.

    3. Boot to Safe mode and perform system restore. If system restore fails or unable to access safe mode, follow next step.

    4. Run Start Up repair from the URL mentioned: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows-vista/Startup-Repair-frequently-asked-questions

    5. If your system is able to boot, then download the update from the URL mentioned: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2515325

Kindly revert and let us know the status.
