What is the best software to use for creating a daily mirror?

OK so I've created an image of my Windows setup using Macrium Reflect (free version) but now I'm looking for a program that will automatically create a backup of my projects drive at the end of every day (to an external USB 3.0 drive). I would like for this to be done automatically and every day because this external drive will also occasionally be used as my working drive when I have to travel and work on the projects using a laptop. (I will of course have to remember to sync the internal drive again when I come home so that its up to date with the work I did on the road).

What would be the best software to use for this? Is anything included in Windows 7 worthy of this task? Should I just upgrade my Macrium to the paid version? Should I get an open source program like Create Synchronicity?

    Suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    Try any of these:

    Karen's Replicator

    Second Copy

    Synctoy

    Allway Sync

    Folder Clone

    GFI Backup Home Edition

    Syncback

    Synchromagic

I use Second Copy without any problems. Windows does include a backup capability, but I don't know if it is "worthy of the task".

I would have liked to have done everything with the same program (system images AND scheduled mirror backup of projects) but also would prefer a free option, so I guess I will keep Macrium Reflect (or maybe Windows Backup) for the system image and after reading this...

Is FreeFileSync Better Sync Software Than Microsoft SyncToy? [Windows]

...I'll give FreeFileSync a try for the scheduled data backups.

Thanks for your list - those really helped set me on the right track! :)

Most of those on that list are free.

In my experience, programs that do both imaging and file by file backup don't have the file by file interface and configuration portion done as well as programs that do file by file only.
