My system crashed yesterday after a windows update. I have dell xps 420 running windows 7 32 bit. On boot up the blue screen flashes up for half a second then crashes before I can read the error message. I have tried running start up repair but get a message saying cannot repair this computer. system restore also runs then shows error 0x800700b7.
I have some files which I need to get off the drive. They were supposed to be getting backed up by sugarsync but have not! Although the system won't boot I can get to the command.com prompt using the Windows 7 disc can I can navigate to see the files I need to copy but when I try and xcopy the necessary files my system is not seeing any of the other attached drives USB, internal hdd or USB Stick.
I have another identical xps 420 system and I attached the hard drive to it as a secondary drive but it is only showing the recovery partition in file manager and none of the system files/data files.
I need to get these files copied so Any help would be appreciated.
