Uninstall of Software-Leads to 3 computer problems

I am back again, yet with another problem.
My wife uninstalled a program (PhotoShop) last night & so how she said It completely wiped out her Photos she had saved on Desktop & in Pictures folder. I then was woke up to her panic, then to do a system restore. I restored it for a few days back. Once finished, I tried to access those files/pictures. I was having to restore them(right clicking then selecting restore) from a later date as well. I was able to see them after I hit restore being that it opened them in another folder/window that opened. I was releived at first. But once my wife moved them from that folder to the desktop-they were not able to be restored OR opened. Nothing in those files/folders were able to be found. NOTHING. Even when I tried to restore it-which said then it was not able to restore this file since there were no items in it no longer. Well I then right clicked on the file/folder and seleceted Open With- then selected a few things to open it with to see if the folder/file would open. Well it didnt work. DANG. Another problem now. Now ALL the icons images on my desktop have changed to the same image as the one I selected to open that one file/folder. OMG. 3 problems now . WT heck. I will post ScreenShot photos later on today for viewing as I KNOW THEY HELP. Please help if you know what the problem may be. Thanks so much for your time & efforts in advance for helping me out. Talk to you soon.
