That points to some corruption in the Volume shadow service routines. You can try to fix it with sfc /scannow in cmd or a repair install. If nothing works, I suggest you do images. Restore points are not very reliable anyhow. Imaging with free Macrium

    Restore Point

    Hi WVS,

    Thank you for your reply.

Frightened to death of procedures you suggest, not knowing anything about computers.
I have tried to recall backups from X drive.....Restore.. reduses to accept tham..At the moment I have found my ISP did not update my security programme (McAfee), maybe that is why problem occurred? I am downloading McAfee, if able to do so?????I shal give laptop a full scan and keep my fingers crossed.
    Here's hoping & thanks........Darcy

    Do:

    Code:
    sc query bits
It simply displays if BITS service is running or not and its configuration. You don't damage anything with that command!

    that output looks fine!

    Code:
    sc start vss
    sc query vss

Try to create a manual restore point... which afils of course. Then
    Code:

    vssadmin list writers
All have State: [5] Waiting for completion or State: [1] Stable?
If not which writer(s) have another state and what is its state?

All have Last error: No error ?
If not which writer(s) have another "last error" and what is its "last error"?
for example "Last error: Non-retryable error" or "Last error: Retryable error"

    Restore

Thank you ..I very much appreciate your guidence....Haveing spent a lot of time trying to sort this( I AM NOT familiar with computers!),I think this problem has been due to my ISP not renewing Security Software(McFee), and a virus has affected my System.
However, before I put the dreaded restor disc in i'll try anything..I have attached Print of my efforts on suggestion 1...not sure about 2.."Try to create a manual restore point... which afils of course." How would I go about this...in plain speak!!

Thanks for you time and assistance her.................Darcy
