f11 to create backup, reinstalled 7 but can't access usb backup
Title says it all.
Couple of days ago when starting up my year old laptop, running 7 home something or other(?), I ended up with a non responsive grey screen.
Previously I had had some problems after accidentally downloading iLivid download manager resulting in my search engine being redirected to searchnu. I thought I had removed everything by deleting files and using the goback option.
So I used Esc and F11 on startup to get a backup made, then to restore the system. I did not use the DVD supplied with the laptop, just used the F11 options.
Now I have a "clean" system but I am unable to restore the backup as the computer does not see the USB stick onto which I saved the backup files. I can see the files if I use explorer but can not persuade the computer to incorporate the backup files into the new system.
Hope all this makes sense.
What did I do wrong and what do I need to do to get all my setting, options, favorites, pictures etc etc back onto my laptop and working as previously.
Or is this not how backup works?
I did run a malware search of the USB backup files with nothing being found.
I use Firefox as my browser, avast and malwarebyte as protection.
Thanks for any help you can give.
