Bootable Thumbdrive backups I gave my son my 32Gig Thumbdrive to make recovery device for his new HP machine....
I tried on my Mac, I also tried with Ghost, but I cannot make a good disk image that I will be able to use later.
Any advice? | My System Specs |

Hi,
I recommend trying Macrium Reflect - its recommend and used here extensively.
Download this WinPE ISO, unzip it, and write it to a CD/DVD or separate USB thumb-drive. Use it to create the image to the 32GB USB you purchased for your son.
This WinPE cannot reside on the same 32GB thumb drive which will hold the Macrium image.
Read this for more info on Macrium: Imaging with free Macrium

Mark, does it matter how the USB thumb drive is formatted? i.e. FAT32 vs. NTFS? is one better than the other when it comes to storing MR images in the way JosesMorgue is looking to do? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Studio XPS 8100 OS Windows 8 Pro; VMs: Linux Mint-14 (MATE & Cinnamon) and Obuntu 12.10 CPU Intel Core i7-860 processor, (8MB Cache, 2.80GHz) Motherboard Dell (Chicony - DH57M01) Memory 8GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz-4x2GB Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTS240, 1024MB GDDR3 Sound Card OEM Integrated Monitor(s) Displays Dell ST2410, 24" Flat Panel Monitor PSU OEM - Max Output Power 350W Case OEM Cooling OEM Hard Drives 256GB Samsung SSD 840 Pro, MZ-7PD256BW

Is this what you're doing? No, I have a bootable thumbdrive that want to make an image of. I want to store the image of the thumbdrive on the harddrive, not make an image of a harddrive onto a thumbdrive. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Compaq SR5710F [Case only] OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD FX 8150 [16 Megs total Cache] Motherboard Asus M5A88-M Memory 16 Gigs [1 Gig for Shared Vid mem] Graphics Card Integrated ATI Radeon HD 4250 GPU Sound Card ALC892 8-Channel High Def Audio Monitor(s) Displays VGA main, HDMI to TV Screen Resolution VGA Screen: 1440 x 900 TV Screen: 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Wireless Mouse Wireless PSU 850 Watt Case Compaq SR5710F Cooling Default Hard Drives 120 Gig SSD 80-Gig secondary [VMs]
