Official win7 install ISO's Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River « My Digital Life
Put on flash usb stick to make it bootable using Microsoft Store Online
Is microsoft helping you?? Cost you a lot of money and I bet... they tell you the same trick... put stuff back from windows\system32\config\regback
Please note the date/time of the files as well (should be all the same). It can be as much as 10 days back as far as I can remember.
If win7 boot succesfully afterwards:
good luck
- disable windows updates
- uninstall all updates after the date/time as seen in regback folder
- enable windows updates, so they will be reinstalled
- check system security settings if system restore is enabled!
Hi, I have tried the registry file copy. The system recovery start up. No recovery points available ?? Tried recovery disc but got error: have you recently attached a devise...camera etc. Remove device and restart. There is no devise. I have attempted the start up repair 26 times. I'm sure it must be a corrupt registry. The laptop (Dell Studio 1535) sticks on the starting windows screen. Win64 bit. Is 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
DIR's came back clean for c:, d: I don't know what options are left to boot windows without loosing my user files? Any ideas?
Hiand thank you for your speedy response! #8 results was 5 files copied. Start up made it to the starting windows screen and stopped. Any ideas? Could it be partition issue? Thanks again for your help! I can't add pics for all I tried in my origional request. I am working from my phone:'(
Did you see the "starting windows screen " prior to do the copy of 5 files? Were the 5 files larger then 1000 bytes?
"starting windows screen " shows the win7 animation with fireflies? What happens afterwards.... freeze or crash? Try "safe mode". What happens in safe mode? Advanced Boot Options
Yes the start windows was prior to the 5 files.
Yes to the fireflies.
Yes bigger than 1000
Safe mode stopped while loading drivers...please wait...
Last driver loaded: windows sys32 drivers classpnp.sys
All bootrecs successful on c: and d:
Both show 0 windows install
Memory test all passed.
Start up repair with recovery disc says no problems found. If you have a device attached...camera, etc. Remove. Restart.
Start up repair F8 says
Sys disk=device/harddisk0
Windows dir= d:
Autochk run=0
# of root causes=1
Yes have tried advanced boot options. Will try again. Can you tell me which is windows?
Diskpart vol 0 e rescue disk udf size 165 healthy. Vol 1 d system rese NTFS partition size 100 healthy. Vol 2 c no label NTFS partition size 232
Getting desperate=-O. Can I save user files from command?
Thank you!
All windows stuff is on the 232GB partition. Above you say it's called C... but also "Windows dir= d:"
Is it called C or D in recovery environment? Still corrupt registry? If so... without a good registry it won't boot... we're out of options.
Make a good backup to external disk of all relevant files. Maybe better backup whole 232GB volume. You can later restore files you want.

v5: How to browse an Image or 'File and Folder' Backup in Windows Explorer (Browse, File and Folder, v5)
Hi Again,
I really appreciated your timely replies! The corrupt registry was only my guess. I bootrec both c: and d: because I didn't know which was windows. They both were successful but both showed no windows. The disc shows windows in drive D. I am able to access a list of drivers in system image. Also have system 32 folder and all drives. Feeling hopeful. Funny though...all windows files are dated 2009?? But they are all there! Nothing in System folder. System reserved c drive only contains bcd_backup dated today...hmmm I screwed that one up. The bcd_backup file in c only says" location does not contain info about your hardware but I am in sys image/add driver's. Local disk D has a system 32 folder from a couple days ago but also has a sysWOW64 file dated 3-28.13 around the time if last crash. windows files contained. . X drive also has an older windows file?? What am I looking for? Not sure I can open anything but hardware...drivers. feelin' a little better!
I will try whatever you say but keep in mind all I know about this stuff is what I read here.:-D
Can't wait to hear what you have to say...please say something hopeful. If it still looks bad can you tell me if I could extract personal files and pics from this...the right click has option to copy/send too. Now I'm thinkin' harddrive. The crash did come at first startup after the laptop ran outta juice while in use.....okay. yes it did warn me at 7%. I was busy ok!
Thanks for all your help. -A
