Windows 7: Shadow Files

Shadow Files

I use Font Creator to, well, create fonts. (Duh) Anyway, that involves many adjustments over time. I have had problems with e-mailing these fonts to friends because they end up with an old version. I used UltraSearch and found that Windows 7 has been making Shadow (or is it "Ghost"?) copies of the old font versions. UltraSearch only lets you see the files, not delete them. The "previous versions" tab of a font's properties tab, says that there are no previous versions, even though UltraSearch found 27.

I have tried VSSADMIN to delete all shadow volumes on my pc, but the old files remain. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks

Even if Windows 7 has Previous Versions of your files it would not be an issue (the one you are describing). I think the issue is that you are trying to save the fonts in a location protected by the system and in turn being directed to the Virtual Store. Save the fonts to your user directory or a directory you control. Do not save directly to Program Files or to Windows.

See: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore

I am saving them in my own directory, C:\Fonts
It is in this directory that Ultra Search finds the multiple versions. When I copy them to DropBox or attach them to an e-mail , it is an older version that shows up.
