restoring Windows from a partition on the same disk extremely slow?
my laptop has only one 500GB hard disk.
partition 1 - C drive: 127GB
partition 2 - D drive: 339GB
i've installed Windows 7 on C drive, and backup C drive to an external USB hard disk.
everything was fine and i can restore from the image file "WindowsImageBackup" located in the external HD, and the restore process takes only 15 to 25 min.
later, i moved the Image file "WindowsImageBackup" from the external HD to D drive of the laptop. And sold the external HD to someone.
Last night i messed around my laptop and just now I decide to do a full system recovery.
I put in the System Recovery Startup CD into my DVD-ROM drive and try to recover the sytem from the image file stored in Drive D. But it seems to me that the restore process takes forever, i've been waiting for 45 min now, and the process shown only 1/4 has been completed! what's going wrong here?
