Acronis and Windows native backup and restore

    Hello
When I upgraded to Win 8 from Win 7 I imaged to my 2T usb drive with both of these programs.
Is having two dissimilar programs going to cause any troubles?
I always depended on Acronis but it seemed to be hard to install this time.
They both check out ok with the discs.
If 2 backups were a dependable move and did not cause a conflict, I would keep it as is.
Should I keep the two or just one?
    Thank you
    Peter

No, having 2 backup programs is not a problem.
Many people recommend using more than 1 Backup program.
If one of the program fails to restore, the other program(s) and image(s) might work correctly.
I use Acronis as my primary backup, and Macrium as a secondary solution.

To me, it all depends on:

    • how much space you have for storing backup images
    • how much time and effort you want to spend backing up your OS and/or data

If you are having problems with Acronis on Windows 8, you might want to post in Windows 8 Forums.

I don't use Imaging for data backups.
I use Imaging for the C: (OS + programs) partition.

I use Acronis for backups. I only make full hard drive backups (all partitions). I don't use the incremental methods. I haven't had any problems backing up or restoring. However, you will need Acronis 2013 for Win 8. I tried installing 2012 version and it stated it was not compatible with Win 8.

I recently upgraded the firmware in my OCZ Vertex 4 SSD, that I use for Win 8. I made an Acronis backup as updating the firmware deletes all data. I restored the drive from my Acronis backup without problems.
