Corrupt system files after image restore

This has been driving me crazy, I hope someone can help!

In updating to a larger system disk on Lenovo T400, I restored from an Acronis image backup. All appeared normal, including applications, except Win 7 did not recognize the signatures on its services, such as Task Manager ("do you want to allow the following programs to make changes...?"), and some services, such as Windows Search, did not work. Running sfc /scannow found multiple corrupt system files that could not be repaired. sfc /scannow finds no corrupt files on the source hard drive.

I have since replicated the problem with multiple virgin disks, two different T400s, and using multiple backup programs (Acronis 13 image backup and disk clone, Paragon disk clone, and Windows image backup restore). I even went back to the original system disk which I had saved, same problem. Updating the BIOS to latest version was no help. I am completely unable to make an image backup from my current (or saved) hard disk and successfully restore it without the same problem every time. sfc /scannow finds no corrupt files on my current hard drive.

I have been routinely recovering image backups with Acronis since Nov 2009 with no problems. This just cropped up in late November 2012.

Problem has been resolved. Was attempting to restore to non-Lenovo hard disks -- Lenovo disks have a special firmware load. Turns out when you do this restore, "almost everything" works just fine.
