Reimaging causes Shadow Volume Copy Service error, 0x80042302
I am attempting to reimage several Dell laptops from DVD's that I created on one of the Dell laptops. I load the boot disk and proceed through the steps and upon initiating the reimage process I receive this error message:
"The system image restore failed." Error details: A volume shadow copy service component encountered an unexpected error. Check the application event log for more information. (0x80042302).
I have done some extensive research on this issue, have tried multiple fixes and am still not able to reimage the machines. I reinstalled a barebones copy of Windows 7 on one of them and I am still having the problem.
One thing I have noticed that is different from the other times I have reimaged laptops is it will not let me deselect the option to format the hard drive. The option is checked and greyed out. The other times I have done this the option was unchecked and not greyed out. I checked it once and proceeded and got the same error message. Mind you this was on a different laptop and image.
Any ideas on how to fix my current issue? I would greatly appreciate any response!
